I don’t think Obama is perfect and I don’t blindly trust him
but Romney is contradictory, homophobic, sexist, against Planned Parenthood, anti-abortion, focused on the upper class, entirely confused as to what the middle class even IS, environmentally unconcerned, and an asshole
SO
Yep
Like yeah, Obama is a neo-conservative corporate shill, but he’s not actively wishing death and malaise upon large swaths of the population directly, that counts for something.
Bernie Sanders 2016 please? (after he gets over his stupid, stupid anti-nuclear stance?)
You and I could argue about Obama for a while — I doubt we’d get anywhere — but I could definitely get behind Bernie Sanders. (Not only because he’d be a fantastic candidate, but because of the gigantic mass conniption-fit the Republicans would have.)
Oh I fully admit to being probably further left (unironically) than anyone else that I’ve ever met on Tumblr, but in America’s super-biased-towards-two-parties-only, first-past-the-post voting system, you better believe the epidemic of “the lesser of two evils” is A Thing, and I’m not cynical/apathetic/jaded enough yet to “not vote for the bad guy just because it might mean the other bad guy would win”. I will proudly vote for Obama in the upcoming election, just like I did in 2008, even if I do feel the last four years were kind of a letdown - and no, not 100% Obama’s fault, either. :)
Though the first person who promises UHC, enforced living wages, a real unemployment benefit, free higher education, and a real focus on energy independence through embracing clean and safe nuclear power (i.e. THORIUM, BABY, WE GOT LOADS IN TEXAS, DIG THAT SHIT UP, IT’S JOBS), will probably sway the hell out of me. :D
